Hearty Broiled Tuna Sandwiches (open-faced)

  • 1 can (6.4 oz) F/V Sonja Canned Albacore Tuna, undrained
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 4 slices bread
  • 4 - 6 slices tomato
  • 4 - 6 slices cheese (American or Cheddar)

  1. Mix tuna, onion, celery, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. 
  2. Toast bread (buttered if desired) in oven or toaster. 
  3. Spread tuna mixture on toast. 
  4. Place tomato slices on each and top with cheese trimmed to fit. 
  5. Spread a small amount of mayonnaise over the cheese. 
  6. Broil about 5 inches from heat 3 - 5 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden brown.  Serve immediately.
